Before and After
Hi, I’m Kristin
In 2007-2008, I experienced some highly stressful events and probably had a bit of a breakdown. Although not officially diagnosed because "I could handle it.” Then, in 2011, I became a caregiver to my husband as he started a very long health journey. And in 2012, I became a caregiver to my mother, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's at 48 years old. I supported her journey with Parkinson’s and dementia in all phases until she passed in 2016. I am still caring for my husband.
During this time, I realized that I had not taken care of myself and fell victim to burnout and weight gain. I had enough and decided that I had to do something.
At one point I was the epitome of what is known as the “Sandwich Generation”. I was working, had kids in school, my husband was experiencing health issues and I was caregiver for my mother.
Over the next year, I discovered myself again! I learned that "I matter too!” As I uncovered passions for golfing, guitar, surfing (on my 50th birthday, a personal goal), eating whole fresh foods, and exercising in a way I enjoyed, the extra weight I was carrying released, I was sleeping better, and felt excited about the future. I became a better caregiver, too!
After several years, I am still on my journey to stay healthy. I understand that this is a marathon, not a sprint. I am now dedicated to helping others achieve what I know can be done, even when you have no time. The added knowledge of understanding the caregiver’s journey gives me an advantage when helping others currently in the caregiver/partner role.
Perhaps you have lost yourself along the way. I want to help you discover your desires, hobbies, and talents. Helping people is my passion and my new healthy lifestyle inspired me to go to school and earn a health coaching certification.
I am now a board-certified functional health coach. I am married to my husband Billy and a mother to three grown daughters, Lindsey, Alexandra, and Taylor. I love food, fun, and family (maybe not in that order, you know what I mean).
“I appreciate that we are all unique and each of us, armed with the right information, must decide what works best for us. I want to help you be the best you possible.”
